Growth of Creative Commons Photos on Flickr (millions of photos)

Swivel uses Creative Commons-licensed photos represented by the purple line (by-2.0) for images around the site (user avatars, data set and column images, and graph bling). Most people seem to go for the more restrictive license: Attribution, Non-Commercial, No Derivatives (by-nc-nd-2.0), the blue line.

brian: i was wondering that too. i assume the data is cumulative. so it might be an issue with a little spec of dirty data. (about 1 year ago)
rejon: This is quite cool Brian. Yes, there is info on the CC wiki about other metrics which could be used to plot graphs: http://wiki.creativecommons.org/License_statistics Also, Mike Linksvayer blogged this on CC's blog: http://creativecommons.org/weblog/entry/7307 (about 1 year ago)
brian: rejon, that page is a great resource too. I also added it as comment on the original data set (http://swivel.com/data_sets/comments/1004473). i'll also see if we can get it into a form that will be plottable by Swivel. (about 1 year ago)

rejon: Cool! Where did you get the data for flickr at? What we really need is regular data about our licenses on google, microsoft live search and yahoo plotted. That would rule! This site is amazing! Please ping me if CC can help as well (I handle community+bizdev for cc) (about 1 year ago)
redjar: I've been saving a copy of the Flickr's Creative Common page for the past year. Once a year had elapsed I pulled out the numbers reported for each day. I'm not sure what the dips are in the graph, possibly erroneous output from Flickr, or perhaps a massive removal of the CC licenses from photos. (about 1 year ago)
