Physical Integrity measures the extent to which women suffer from violence. Arithmetic mean of the prevalence of female genital mutilation , the acceptance and legal recognition of violence against women and the number of missing women due to sex-selective abortions etc. (0=equality; 1=max inequality).

though the US is low on the bar chart sorted highest - it is interesting to see countries with better physical integrity measure. like mexico. i would think incidences of violence are reported less in mexico for one. and other things like the fact that genital mutilation is part of the equation - where there is a fair amount that happens in the USA and not mexico due to immigration. does the methodology factor those things in?
